Hubei has been said to be one of the originating places of the Chinese people. Today many minority ethnic groups live in this area including the Miao, Tujia, Dong and some others. Ancient towers, grottoes, city remains, imperial mausoleums, temples and nobilities' native places can be found throughout the province as well as impressive natural scenery.
The Three Gorges offer an unmatched painting of water and mountains. And since the World Famous Yangtze Three Gorges Dam Project has been realized, Hubei has another interesting site, the largest water conservation project in the world.
The Wudang Shan, a scenic mountain monastery was once a thriving Taoist community famous for developing its own unique line of martial arts. The park area of Shennongjia in remote northern Hubei is relatively untraveled and holds some of Hubei’s most breathtaking natural scenery. |
