CCC holds talks and lectures on most weekday evenings and sometimes
during the day on weekends. Both visiting foreign scholars and artists
and local Chinese intellectuals are invited to give presentations
at CCC. Many prestigious professors, famous artists and experts
are invited to host the events. All events are conducted in English
or with interpretation, and are carefully tailored and easily accessible
to westerners.

General information on CCC talks &
lectures
* Language: Presentations are done in English, or in Chinese
with English interpretation.
* Audience: All participants are foreigners. They are mainly
expatriates living in Beijing with a small number of visitors.
Most of them are from Europe, North America and Australia,
but all continents are represented. They are diplomats, businessmen,
teachers, journalists, other professionals, and their spouses.
They tend to have a fairly good understanding of China, its
culture and many of them speak some mandarin. Their ages range
from 35-60.
* Duration: Presentations usually last between 90 minutes
and two hours, including a 20-minute Q & A session. Some
series of lectures, such as the 5-session Chinese history
course, are held over a few weeks, with each session lasting
2 hours.
* Setting: A room with traditional Chinese décor and casual
atmosphere. Tea is provided to participants.
* Facilities: A laptop computer, a projector and screen, a
DVD player, and other AV equipment are available.
* Admission and Speaker Remuneration: These presentations
are a part of the CCC’s non-profit program. Each participant
pays a RMB30-50 admission, which helps to cover equipment
and staffing costs, interpreting service (if required), and
a small amount that we pay speakers to cover their expenses.
